Does My Business Need an Explainer Video?
That’s easy; Yes. But since we make explainer videos then you may think we’re a bit biased. Yes we are, we admit it.
How Will an Explainer Video Help My Business?
Let’s look at a few of the ways:
- Improve Conversions
Studies have shown up to 64% increase in conversions
- Improve the Quality of Leads
When a visitor better understands your business and contacts you they are already pre-qualified
- Improve SEO
Many factors such as time spent on the site, more searchable content, youtube search results
First, watch our explainer video about explainer videos!
So let’s look at some other reasons why explainer videos help a business.
Explainer Videos Increase Understanding
You’ve visited sites and wondered, “what does this company do? or how does this app work? Newsflash; your site’s visitors are asking the same thing. I know… I know, you’ve got thousands of words explaining in excruciating detail what your company does and why you’re the best, but…NOBODY READS WEB COPY! We once wrote a page of text on our site and near the end of the article offered a free Ferrari to the first person that emailed us. We still haven’t given away a Ferrari!
Read or Watch?
Ask yourself, would you rather read a page of text to find out what a company does or would you rather watch a 90 second explainer video? That’s what we thought. It’s true of visitors to your site as well.
Industry statistics show that viewers retain 58% more information watching vs reading,* so they’re more likely to remember you and take action to connect with your company. The combination of text and audio is even more powerful. People engage multiple senses while watching a video. The voice delivers the information, the text reinforces the audio message, and the visuals make it clearer and more interesting. With multiple senses involved comprehension and retention go up dramatically. How’s that for some science!
You Have 5 to 7 seconds
One of the critical issues we face when building a successful website and SEO campaign is telling the story and making the visitor want more, but you have to give them a reason to stick around. On average you have 5-7 seconds to capture the attention of the visitor* and make them want to spend more time on your website. Understanding what your visitors are seeing is key to reducing your website’s bounce rate. This statistic applies to any website. If your product is an app or web business that involves a new concept you have an even greater challenge. Watching a video, especially an engaging, creative, great looking video like the ones we make will at least get your site visitors attention and make them want to spend a few more seconds on your site. If they like what they see they will continue to watch. If they like the concept they will download it, buy it, sign up for it, tell three of their best friends, whatever.
The average stay on a website is 6 times longer when there is a video on the page.** Time is valuable and attention spans are short. That’s just a fact in today’s world with so much information out there and so many new business offerings coming online every day. How do you cut through the clutter? There are many tools you need to employ, SEO best practices, blogging, social media, and so many others. For onsite conversion optimization a video is essential. Placing your video near the top of your homepage or landing page where it is featured prominently with a clear call to action is also important. Tell them how long the video is. It should be under 2 minutes, so if you have a message that says something like “watch our 90 second video” then they know upfront how much time you’re asking for. Animated explainer videos are effective because they look fun. People know ahead of time it won’t be boring. If they see a talking head of the CEO they know in advance they’ll be bored. (unless your CEO is Chris Rock)
