When Virginia-based MePorter Inc. wanted a tool to help launch its citizen journalism website in May, it turned to an Austin company that produces animated videos.
A 90-second video created by How It Works Media gave MePorter an “engaging” way to explain its website’s features, said Ron Leff, a partner with MePorter, whose name reflects concept of enabling anyone with a Web connection to be a local reporter.
It’s easy to tell users they can download photos and report what they’ve seen based on their locations. But seeing it in action is better, Leff said. So when the company issues news releases or makes business proposals, it includes a link to the animated video to give clients and others a better idea of what they’re all about.
