How much does an explainer video cost?
The most common question I hear is “how much does and explainer video cost?” While I certainly understand budget issues and we all have to live within a budget, I think we should also ask “how much does it cost NOT to have a video on my website?”
Video is a Necessity today, not an Option
Remember when video was a luxury, a curious little feature on a website? We don’t either. We’re dealing with today and just about every business today needs at least one video as part of their marketing strategy. If you have just one video it should be one that provides a overview of your company, what makes you different, what problem you solve, and should include a clear call to action, features and benefits, and all those other marketing essentials.
Video is Expensive
How much does a video cost? Prices vary, and a quality video is a substantial investment. However, calculate how much you spent developing your site, researching the market and competitors, hiring your team, and if you sell a product, how much you spent developing and producing that product. Can you afford to let site visitors bounce without at least offering them a chance to hear your story in a 1 or 2 minute video presentation? If you know how much you spend to get each visitor to your site you can add that cost up easily.
What’s the ROI?
We can’t guarantee a specific multiple on your investment and each business is different but ask yourself what each lead is worth, what each customer is worth, and then ask what it would be worth to your business if 75% of the visitors watched your explainer video and understood twice as much about you as they could have in 1-2 minutes reading your website text.
